According to myth, the lands were once ruled by a giant named Balor. Although many hoped to defeat him, every one of them perished beneath the gaze of his Evil Eye... except for one.

This is the story of Lugh. The one who did not perish.

CONTROLS:
Movement: Left/right arrows or A/D
Jump: Up arrow, W, or Space
Attack: X

This game was made in 96 hours for Jame Gam #32. The theme was "Folklore and Mythology", and the special object "Eye" had to be included. Fitting with both, the story is inspired by an Irish myth. In addition to Balor's Evil Eye, I also included a nazar as a central feature: while not part of the original myth, I thought it was fitting considering that they are thought to ward off the evil eye.

Made with Godot.

All assets, including art, sound, and code, were created by myself during the 96 hours of the game jam.

I played through most of your game I think up until the eye and the laser beam but then at the next floor died and gave up. It was a fun game thanks for making it.

Haven't played such a good game in a long time. Art style is simple, yet marvelous. I'm not a fan of metroidvania games, but you made me change my mind. This is literally a work of art, congratulations in such a great job. I hope you win this jam.

And a question from my girlfriend (artist): Which program did you use to make the art?

Thank you so much! I hesitate to call a game of this size a metroidvania, but I definitely took inspirations from the genre. I'm really glad you enjoyed it!

I did all of the art in Procreate for the iPad. I wouldn't consider myself a very accomplished artist, but I can at least do simple paintings like the ones in this game.

Adorable art style!! Very fun gameplay and 0 bugs. Good sense of progression with the available upgrades and enemies. Great animations. Definitely a banger.
